Wedding Hair: How To Choose The Right Hairstyles

1. What are you wearing?

Do you have a strapless number picked out? Or a dress with long sleeves? Choosing your wedding hairstyle should complement, not compete with your gorgeous dress! A good rule of thumb is to do the opposite of the neckline of your dress with your hair. If you are wearing a sleeveless dress, wear your hair partly down. We love this romantic wavy half-updo. If you have a high necked dress or long sleeves, wear your hair in an updo.

2. What time of day is the wedding?

Daytime weddings tend to be a little less formal than night time events. If the wedding is early during the day, make sure you wash your hair the night before. We suggest trying out the TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Pre-Wash Conditioner and the TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Shampoo for clean and voluminous hair. If the wedding is at night, start your style by refreshing your hair with some of the Suave Moroccan Infusion Weightless Dry Shampoo to make sure that your hair is refreshed and oil-free.

3. Where is the wedding located?

Location is key in figuring out your wedding hair. Is it an indoor or outdoor wedding? If it is outdoor, is the climate warm and humid? If you are going to an indoor wedding, you probably don’t need to worry about the heat and humidity so you can wear a more intricate style, like this grecian braided bun. If you’ll be outside someplace humid (like the beach) wear a more forgiving style that work with the elements. We like braided updos that keeps your hair off your neck and face that’ll still have you looking super stylish.

4. How formal is the wedding?

Will the wedding be a grand formal affair? Or something a little more low key? For the most formal events, you can’t go wrong with glamorous old Hollywood waves. They are simple but always elegant and look great on everyone. For a more casual wedding, try out a half-up hairstyle. That way you don’t feel too stuffy, but still look dressed up and put together.
